Expleo<\/span> successfully partnered with <\/span>a<\/span> German<\/span> OEM to develop <\/span>a<\/span> highly <\/span>automated<\/span> parking system<\/span> allowing <\/span>electri<\/span>fied<\/span> <\/span>and <\/span>ICE<\/span> vehicles<\/span> to<\/span> <\/span>park <\/span><\/span>driverless<\/span> <\/span>on the street or <\/span>teach them to park autonomously<\/span> in a<\/span> specific location<\/span> via a mobile app<\/span>.<\/span> B<\/span>uilding on our experience in automated driving, our <\/span>ADAS <\/span>Parking and Perception Teams were the lead system supplier<\/span>s<\/span> for <\/span>this<\/span> system<\/span> at <\/span>SAE <\/span>autonomy level 2<\/span>+<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

S<\/span>ystems <\/span>for ADAS and automated <\/span>parking will use<\/span>, among others, <\/span>multiple <\/span>sensors (Lidars, Radars, Cameras…), to respond spontaneously to outside conditions and stimuli, such as road infrastructure, lighting conditions, traffic signs, lane <\/span>markings<\/span> etc. The challenge for this <\/span>project <\/span>was to<\/span><\/span> fulfil<\/span><\/strong> the typical<\/strong> requirements of<\/strong> these systems on a<\/strong> lighter sensor<\/strong> set <\/strong><\/span>while ensuring<\/span> highly <\/span>reliable<\/span> operation <\/span>under <\/span>various<\/span> seasonal conditions and <\/span>at<\/span> different <\/span>time<\/span>s<\/span> of the day<\/span><\/strong><\/span> and year<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span> The OEM selected <\/span>Expleo<\/span> as <\/span>a <\/span>partner due to our <\/span>expertise<\/span> in<\/span> <\/span>autonomous valet parking<\/span><\/span><\/a> technology<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The system is technically complex, with many components and subcomponents that must interact and complement each other to ensure the car takes the correct <\/span>path<\/span> every time.<\/span> That is where a <\/span>systems engineering and development<\/span> partner like <\/span>Expleo<\/span> made the difference.<\/span> O<\/span>ur teams <\/span>were responsible for<\/span> the <\/span><\/span>complete <\/span>model-based <\/span><\/strong>system<\/strong> and <\/strong><\/span>function development <\/span><\/strong><\/span>up to the ECU level<\/strong> –<\/span><\/span> starting with <\/span>finali<\/span>s<\/span>ing <\/span>the customer\u2019s pre-development state of the function continuing to series production<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Advances in technology are exciting, but they all need to work together.<\/span><\/span> Our team covered <\/span>the end-to-end development for t<\/span>his <\/span>complex<\/span> project, <\/span><\/span>from <\/span>identifying<\/span> <\/strong>business needs<\/strong> and use cases<\/strong><\/span> to <\/span>requirements <\/span>modelling<\/span><\/strong>,<\/span> functional development<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>component<\/span><\/strong> and system validation<\/strong> and <\/strong><\/span>ultimately<\/span> series<\/span><\/strong> production<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span> Key aspects included defining customer functions, developing functional and system architectures, specifying functional interfaces, and coordinating with subsystem suppliers<\/span> and stakeholders<\/span>. Rigorous <\/span>verification and<\/span> validation through<\/span> co<\/span>mponent<\/span> tests, <\/span>HiL<\/span> tests, subsystems, and vehicle tests ensured the <\/span>system\u2019s <\/span>maturity and <\/span>reliability.<\/span> Additionally<\/span>, for <\/span>parts of the validation process, we used <\/span>Expleo<\/span>\u00b4<\/span> s own <\/span>component<\/span> and <\/span>H<\/span>ardware-in-the-<\/span>L<\/span>oop (<\/span>HiL<\/span>) systems, <\/span>along with<\/span> our <\/span>HiL<\/span> interface <\/span>which enables the<\/span> direct <\/span>transmission<\/span> of imaging data to the processing ECUs <\/span>with<\/span>in a test environment<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
