Who was the client?
An aerospace engineering specialist, supplying equipment and technology to manufacturers all over the world.
What was the problem?
Aircraft manufacturers no longer own engines. They lease them from companies like our client. To be competitive in this market, the client needed a crystal-clear understanding of the engines they had in market, their location, their maintenance history, and their lifespan.
What was the Expleo solution?
We took a bottom-up approach. We have a deep understanding of the engineering side of the client’s business, so we understand the constraints and the technicalities of aerospace engineering. Using that knowledge and combining it with our Big Data capabilities, we built a dynamic maintenance database that could configure and track the lifecycle of each engine in market
How did that help?
The database made the client’s operations slicker. They could be a more responsive partner to their clients for troubleshooting and predictive maintenance needs.
It also made their internal processes far more streamlined. By breaking down data siloes and technologies (CASQ IT, CSC-CRM, Fleet Data Exchange, FleetX, MRO Data Store, WALK, Indigo, SCORE etc…) and uniting them in one system, the client was better able to manage their resources, understand what parts were needed where, and even inform their sales strategy and creation of new maintenance factories.
What were the results?
The project was a great success. The initial project was a pilot scheme to prove the concept. Now that it’s proven, the team has secured the budget to invest in the project as a global solution.
Could it work for me?
This type of project works for any business that needs to track digital components for maintenance and lifecycle. It’s a crucial first step in being a data-driven business as it unifies and consolidates the data you need to make informed decisions quickly.
