Functional safety (ISO 26262) plays a crucial role in the development of safe, autonomous and electrified vehicles. It focuses on eliminating the risk of harmful malfunctions in vehicle’s electrical and electronic components.
What was the problem?
When important core functional safety tasks are outsourced to external partners, trust, expertise and a methodical approach are crucial. This raises new questions regarding collaboration and comprehensive safety assurance. A leading automotive manufacturer was looking for a partner with not only deep technical expertise in ISO 26262 and specific domains, but also the ability to develop holistic safety concepts, manage suppliers and ensure the safety of critical systems, including high-voltage energy storage systems, ADAS technologies and a central ECU.
Today, Expleo supports the OEM with a multi-disciplinary team from concept to production release, going beyond a traditional supplier role to ensure end-to-end safety across software, hardware and system levels. A key focus is on high-voltage systems, where Expleo leads the monitoring of critical sub-components, including cells, converters, BMS (Battery Management System) and the entire charging system. In the area of sensor technology (LIDAR, RADAR, ultrasound) for ADAS systems and a new central ECU, we support and manage suppliers for functional safety.
