Expanding data visibility for a fast-food giant

A digital representation of a data center shows numerous server racks under blue lighting. Overlaid graphics depict data flow, files, and connections symbolizing network communication and cyber security, highlighted by a transparent circuit board pattern.

How we equipped more decision-makers with critical insights.

Who is the client?

One of the world’s most famous global fast food chains.

What was the problem?

Primarily, a lack of data visibility. Only certain users in the company could access the information they needed to make decisions. This included data related to sales, customer preferences, marketing performance, and regional recipe variations.

In addition, company data was often siloed — and it was hard to determine how reliable it was. All of which was leading to missed insights, duplicated reporting, and hindered decision-making.

What was the Expleo solution?

First, we helped with data governance. This involved identifying company pain points (such as lack of data visibility) and providing recommendations (such as introducing organisational data governance frameworks) that would dramatically improve how data was managed & consumers of data can be engaged with data.

We also implemented a centralised data governance framework, ensuring company data was accessible to more users — all in one place. And we’re introducing automation and generative AI to help eliminate manual tasks, including consolidating data between our client’s systems in different markets.

How did that help?

More users in the company can access the data they need to manage day-to-day operations. If, for instance, a store manager wants to review inventory information or regional sales reports, it’s instantly available — easy to find with a quick search.

And because data is now labelled with a quality score, users can make far more informed decisions, knowing whether the data they’re looking at is reliable or requires validation.

What were the results ?

Improved decision-making, less time spent searching for information, reduced manual tasks, and a deeper understanding of how the business is performing.

In addition, based on using our automation solution to help consolidate data from different markets, we’ve identified a potential ROI for our client of nearly $3m U.S. dollars.

Could it work for me?

Yes. Any company that wants to derive more value from their data can benefit from the solutions we’ve described. A common data platform, supported by effective data governance, can equip decision-makers with clear insights that move the business forward.

Industrial organisations need to handle increasingly vast amounts of data. Data governance is critical to making sure all your data is accessible to the right people, and used in the right way to drive smart decision-making
