A career in embedded systems engineering can be hugely rewarding. Developing and designing the systems of everything from driverless cars to nanosatellites is a career many would be envious of but where you do that work and with whom can turn a good job into a great career. Amine Mecheraoui, Practice Leader of Expleo’s Embedded Systems Engineering team shares his experiences and thoughts on why a career at Expleo is a place to thrive, grow and progress every day.

I joined Expleo in 2018. I had a few years of experience under my belt in various engineering roles with good companies following the completion of my PhD, but it felt like the time to take the next step in my career, to kick on. In those four years, I’ve had the privilege to work on amazing projects with great teams. I’ve progressed my career and expanded my skills too. For me, while there have been many positives to joining the Embedded Systems Engineering team at Expleo, here are my top six:

  • Autonomy & Support: We encourage you to design and implement all your ideas, while also remaining available whenever you need help. As a Practice Leader, my role is dedicated to just that. Whatever issues you’re facing, we’ve got your back.
  • A Career Path Built Just for You: I started as an automotive engineer at Expleo and as my interest in managing other people grew, I was given the opportunity to build a team of embedded systems engineers. It’s great to have been through these steps because we engineers enjoy being managed by our peers as it makes us feel better understood.

  • Competitive Learning Programmes: We don’t want our people to ever feel like their knowledge are plateauing, so we’ve created a learning & development programme where you can learn everything you want, including tomorrow’s engineering skills, from MBSE to Big Data analytics if that’s what you think will keep you on top of your game.

  • P2P Support Network: If you ever want to ask another expert something about their field, all you’ve got to do is ask. We have an open environment based on knowledge sharing, where everyone is happy to share what they know because it makes everybody better at what they do.
  • Client Management: We don’t just send you away to our client’s offices for months and leave you to it. We also price our services per project where the focus is on delivering good work that adds value. You aren’t just a number or extra headcount – you will always be listened to and your contributions valued.
  • Diversity of Teams & Projects: We have teams spread across 30 countries and four continents, with people from all over the world. Same goes with our clients and it’s great discovering and learning from the different ways people work.
