- Expleo will showcase AI-powered rail engineering at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin.
- Visit Expleo in the AI Mobility Lab, Hall 7.1A, stand 310.
- Expleo brings 800+ rail specialists across rolling stock, signalling, infrastructure, cybersecurity and automation.
- Live demos include AI signalling, predictive maintenance and autonomous electric rail freight.
- Expleo helps rail companies industrialise AI for safer, more reliable and efficient operations.

Arnaud Lerond, VP Mobility at Expleo, said: “The rail industry is entering a phase in which AI, digitalisation and automation no longer apply only to new projects, but are gradually being integrated into existing systems. This raises very concrete challenges around reliability, interoperability and cybersecurity.
“Every day, we help move these technologies from the experimental stage to industrial systems, integrating the safety and security requirements specific to rail from the design phase.
“At InnoTrans, we will demonstrate this evolution in particular through our solutions for predictive maintenance, signalling and autonomous freight,”
Practical AI applications for safer, more reliable rail operations
Expleo brings AI into rail operations, improving reliability, predictive maintenance, driver assistance, intelligent signaling and connected system security:
- For one rail operator, Expleo-developed models reduced false positives in predictive maintenance applications by 50%, improving system availability and confidence in the technology.
- For a rail manufacturer, Expleo implemented AI capable of analysing large volumes of technical documentation and operator specifications in minutes, supporting faster and more accurate tender responses.
- For another rail operator, Expleo prototyped a metro driver-assistance system that analyses lateral signals in real time, including in complex environments such as tunnels.
- Expleo is supporting a major rail company with the interoperability of its signalling systems, including CBTC and ERTMS, from design through to verification, validation, deployment and maintenance.
- Expleo embeds cybersecurity requirements from the design stage, covering software development, verification, validation, testing and compliance, particularly for Automatic Train Operation functions.
The AI Signalling Assistant - secure AI, designed by and for the rail sector:
- The AI developed by Expleo’s innovation teams can interpret specifications, technical terminology and multilingual documents (German, English, Spanish and French).
- This knowledge assistant can also be used to train experts.
ExpleoSteffi - a new standard for rail freight:
- Winner of the SIFER 2025 Innovation Award, the ExpleoSteffi solution introduces a new freight wagon architecture: autonomous and 100% electric, intelligent and modular, with its own on-board robotic trans-shipment system.
- The solution notably includes automated loading and unloading through an onboard robotic system, without requiring any changes to existing infrastructure. It also enables digital management of operations, from booking to fleet monitoring and maintenance.
- ExpleoSteffi is designed for complex freight transport and for use on non-electrified or underused lines, with the aim of bringing rail transport closer to industrial sites and logistics platforms.
