Berlin, Germany 14 September 2022 – Expleo will be exhibiting at InnoTrans in Berlin, Germany, from 20-23 September. Expleo will be found at Stand 103 in Hall 6.1.

As urban population growth drives demand for transport and the environmental impact of travel under greater-than-ever scrutiny, the rail industry has seen significant and sustained growth. In fact, global high-speed rail traffic expected to double by 2030. With passenger numbers facing almost exponential growth, a significant modernisation is underway to ensure the quality, sustainability and capacity of the world’s railway networks. Digitalisation will be the driver of this evolution.

At InnoTrans, Expleo will join the leading names of the transportation industry to discuss the issues shaping Mobility 4.0, including sustainability, customer experience and digitalisation:

  • Hydrogen & Sustainable Innovation: Carbon emissions from rail are lower per passenger than both road and air, but as passenger numbers grow, these must be lowered to meet global Net Zero targets. Expleo will be available to discuss the transition from diesel-powered locomotives to green fuels such as hydrogen, track electrification and how new approaches to engineering can bring down the weight of rolling stock to reduce both fuel usage and wear and tear on track infrastructure.
  • Signalling Modernisation: Signalling systems are fundamental to the successful operation of railways, managing traffic and ensuring safety. As traffic volumes rise, rail signalling projects are a greater focus. Expleo will be available to discuss how digital solutions, telecommunication technologies, and automation are implemented to increase the capacity and availability of rail services.
  • Mobility-as-a-Service: Uptake of rail as a preferred mode of transport relies on a high-quality passenger experience that is comfortable, safe and simple. Expleo will be available to discuss how it supports the development of integrated ticketing solutions that enable the use of tickets on different networks and complementary municipal services.

Philippe Arragain, Vice President & Head of Rail Transportation at Expleo commented: “It has become clear the existing approach to urban mobility needs to be improved, in terms of the environment and practicality. To make the necessary changes, digitalisation must be embraced by the industry wholeheartedly and encourages passengers to use in a wider way public transport. Expleo combines digital and engineering expertise to help its rail partners provide future-shaping solutions across the value chain.”
