Paris, France, 15 December 2023 – Expleo, a global player in engineering, technology and consulting, has announced that its iONiX solution has won the “Coup de Cœur” award in the “Green Innovation” category and its ExpleoSmeeta solution has won the “Revelation of the Year” award in the “Innovation in Safety” category at the Automobiles Awards 2023.
iONiX: EV charging point of the future
The iONiX electric charging point, developed by Silver Atena, an Expleo Group company, received the ‘Coup de Cœur’ award in the ‘Green Innovation’ category. Its sleek, appealing design (awarded IF Design Award 2022) fits seamlessly in public spaces. Featuring customisable design possibilities, offering added flexibility for operators and urban planners. Opting for iONiX provides charging park operators, multi-storey car parks, and shopping centres with the convenience of remote maintenance and the substantial advantages of integrated dynamic load management. This allows multiple charging stations to operate efficiently simultaneously, even when paired with AC chargers, irrespective of the manufacturer. iONiX functions quietly, making it an appealing choice for integration into public spaces.
The charging stations facilitate a wide array of payment options, spanning from credit cards to plug-and-charge solutions, enabling users maximum convenience. Its modular structure simplifies assembly without necessitating a crane.
For environmentally conscious users, iONiX presents bi-directional charging capabilities, permitting the transfer of electricity stored in the vehicle back into the home’s energy system (known as “vehicle to home” or V2H) or into the grid (“vehicle to grid” or V2G). This allows users to channel energy back to their buildings during peak-priced kilowatt-hour periods and recharge when rates are at their lowest, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
ExpleoSmeeta: an experimental cyber-resilience suitcase
Expleo’s cybersecurity expertise was also recognised, with the “ExpleoSmeeta” experimental cyber-resilience suitcase receiving the Revelation of the Year Award in the “Innovation in Safety” category.
Modern cars run over 100 million lines of code and typically have multiple wireless connections, such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 4G/5G. The increasing connectivity of cars and their growing dependence on software means an exponential increase in cyber-risk that could potentially threaten vehicle and driver safety.
ExpleoSmeeta was developed by and for Expleo teams as an experimental cyber-resilience testing platform for the automotive sector. It combines a cybersecurity testing device with a set of hardware components for conducting security assessments, cybercrime investigations and penetration tests. Expleo’s expert engineers use this platform for cybersecurity tests on vehicles to integrate cybersecurity into the very design of automotive products and anticipate future risks.
“We are very proud to receive these two awards, which bear witness to our ability to anticipate tomorrow’s challenges in the automotive sector. These innovations have been developed by multi-disciplinary, international teams to meet the challenges of cybersecurity and sustainable mobility, which are at the heart of our concerns at Expleo”, says Christophe Cazes, VP of Global Innovation at Expleo.
