Challenges
eir had a desire to create a cultural shift, one that offered their leaders the opportunity to grow together and align on what effective leadership looks like. There was a need to embed a new set of company values in a meaningful and consistent way. The ambition was clear, to build leadership capability, particularly among mid to senior-level managers in areas such as influencing, performance management, and leading with confidence in a hybrid, fast-moving environment.
The programme aimed to improve their effectiveness, strengthen self-awareness and drive consistency and expertise across the leadership community. They knew that shifting leadership behaviour at scale required something more. They needed external expertise to bring fresh perspective, deliver practical and relevant tools, and provide the right balance of challenge and support to embed change where it mattered most: in the everyday actions of their leaders.
Partnering with Expleo for leadership transformation
eir chose Expleo Academy for our ability to translate ambition into action, combining deep facilitation expertise with a clear understanding of the organisation’s pace, culture and leadership expectations. The Leadership Pathway was delivered as a fully tailored, in-person development experience focused on practical application rather than theory, using real-world case work, syndicate challenges and peer learning to help participants build confidence in key leadership behaviours such as influence, performance management and cross-functional collaboration.
Leadership programme delivery
The Leadership and Management Development programme ran over a two-month period, delivered across two geographical locations. Its aim was to establish a shared set of leadership development priorities across three key parts of the wider eir organisation: eir, open eir and eir evo.
Patricia McGuire, Director of the Expleo Academy, and John Philp, Head of Leadership and Management Development at Expleo Academy, worked closely with internal stakeholders to understand business priorities, leadership expectations, and cultural context. This collaborative approach shaped a bespoke leadership development solution under the Leadership Pathway umbrella.
The contract involved rolling out two distinct Leadership and Management Development modules to 176 participants across the full eir business. Delivery was structured across nine cohorts, each comprising approximately 21 participants, to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience while maintaining a highly participative learning environment.
Results
eir experienced a safe yet challenging environment from Expleo Academy, one that was high-energy, responsive, and fully attuned to the business.
The Leadership and Management Development programme enabled eir to strengthen leadership consistency and confidence across the business, accelerating performance, alignment, and cultural engagement, while supporting their culture programme and embedding new corporate values.
The programme equipped eir’s leaders with the confidence, behaviours, and practical tools needed to lead more effectively in a fast-moving, performance-driven environment. It established a common leadership language across levels, strengthened internal networks, and enabled managers to handle challenging conversations, drive performance, and influence beyond their direct authority – supporting better decision-making, faster alignment, and improved collaboration.
The results were compelling:

96% rated the programme content as ‘Excellent’, with a further 4% rating it ‘Good’
