The Challenge
The development of robust aerospace surveillance systems for national defence purposes requires a range of engineering skills and expertise. Expleo’s ability to provide complex technical support across a number of different functions met this need and has seen the defence engineering company become a long-term – and exclusive – partner of Thales Landing Air System (LAS).
Its breadth of engineering and industry expertise has been key to Expleo’s ongoing partnership with Thales and to its participation at every stage of the project cycle to accelerate timescales and help drive better outcomes.
Solutions
Expleo’s technical solutions and proven defence capability in concept design, project management, software development, prototyping, data processing and mechanical engineering are all in use across Thales’ radar offering.
Expleo gets involved in projects from the outset, helping to find new ways to speed up deliverables and optimise costs. Automation and application know-how are key to this, for example providing data processing and analysis to identify improvements in aerospace surveillance software.
To best meet Thales’ requirements, the teams are closely integrated with Expleo representatives actively working on site at Thales’ offices throughout France. In addition, Expleo’s design office has been recognised as a centre of excellence. Its specialised offerings in complex areas such as laser pods, optronics and missile detection radars are helping to facilitate the design process further.
Outcome
As a direct result of Expleo’s tried and tested engineering competency, Thales LAS’s technical teams have approved Expleo as an exclusive global partner in the area of mechanical engineering.
Expleo is also an approved supplier of defence engineering solutions to Thales worldwide. This includes support in the design and development of aerospace safety systems and equipment for civil and military purposes.
